Stan Lee Animations & Tests
Stan Lee, Tests & 10 Second Bumper
This blog entry consists of showing my journey on creating my 10 second bumper by doing so I will be showing you my progression and developments showing each stage of creating this footage, which will feature my own animation tests and animation work based on the legendary film maker, Stan Lee. I did this by filming my motion footage of my imagery using I motion and then editing my animation footage on Premiere Pro as well as exploring other techniques and processes, this entry will show my development and progress in my imagery, how I had my illustrations from still image to motion by creating animation.
Here is a test piece below, where I basically filmed all of my footage, which turned out to be a 30 second piece, which we would need to do eventually so it was good practise for that but, I would have to edit this down to 10 seconds using Premiere Pro to make my 10 second bumper. There were sections of this piece I liked and so I merged my footage down based on this footage below, so this video below is basically the secret behind this footage.
30 Second test/footage
This footage here is the motherland to how I created my 10 second bumper, there were sections on here as I previously stated that I liked and felt would work well as an animation for which the narrative would make more sense. There was a section I liked which I haven't put into my 10 second bumper because it didnt work with my narrative I was creating, is nearish to the end of the clip where we see Stan Lee in flashing colours which I really like because it is funky and very abstract but I didn't use sadly because it didnt make sense to my aesthetic of what I wanted my 10 second bumper to be.
Here is an audio video below, split into two parts for the reasons of a technical glitch, which is basically of me explaining briefly how I put these animations below together there is no image on this video I am sorry to say! But it gives you a general idea as for how I have created these animations. (Apologies if it doesn't sound very good! There is no image on these clips either) I have written basic annotations as well if you rather read that.
Part 1
Part 2
10 second Bumper without sound
This animation, as I mentioned on the audio clip, I wanted to focus on the visual elements to this footage, I wanted to experiment and see what I can put together to. give my imagery some action pact visual footage I wanted this animation to have a more contemporary aesthetic at the same time as have the theme of this animation to be action pact, the same genre as the marvel movies but of course in my own creative way, thinking outside the box approach basically.
Experimentation
For this piece as I say on the clip I think I said anyway... that I wanted to experiment and get to know Premiere Pro, basically I wanted to see what some of the effects options would do to my animation and going onto the colour option to help me get the psychedelic colour option which I do like, it is unique and I think this has an unorthodox out of the box footage kind of thing, as I say you could even guess to assume this footage is a parody/pastiche variation of my footage I put together... frankly because I wanted to experiment and see what I can create by letting the effects and experiments do the talking basically.
I have feedback below from my peers I see on occasion at the uni:
My Feedback
I can see what Peer 1 meant by saying about KFC because it looks like him! But no!! Poor Stan Lee.
10 second Bumper
This here is the final 10 second bumper, where I have added audio to my original footage, where I added the marvel theme tune on the Keyboard alongside other audio and FX effects that I downloaded from a sound effects website called Zasplat also. I have kept the visuals the same on this footage because I think it works well, it has the message, Blurt on Channel 4 with the Marvel Characters because if it being Stan Lee. I think this is actually one of my favourite 10 second Bumpers I have created, I think there is fluent visuals that works well and makes a short.but sweet narration. I think the target audience for this footage is basically an open audience, for one it depends win who watches channel 4 anyway, along with depending on who likes Marvel would like this 10 second bumper, though I would say would be attracted to this footage, but as I see marvel as an open audience, I felt the same with this footage, although having said that, it is a matter of what attracts the eye of the person who turns their TV on basically. only thing I would say could have gone better and I have had others say the same, I am saying the names of the superheroes, my voice isn't the clearest and needs to be louder basically, which is fair enough because there maybe people in the public who are hard of hearing. So I would say that as a potential improvement.
