Artist 1: Roy Litenstein

Roy Lichtenstein, Part 1

Imagery & video Footage

Here we have it we go form modern contemporary Marvel, to the retro
Classics Mr men to another classic Retro image aesthetic which we are flying back to the year of the Swinging 60’s and the raving 80’s as we look at Pop Art- the contemporary Pop Art as I found inspiration by Roy Lichtenstein. As I found my digital imagery to be very Pop art 1960-80’s retro comic book appearance which made me think of Roy Lichtenstein as a definite choice for me to base my 30 second ident for BLURT on especially because I already had some existing knowledge of Lichtenstein and Pop Art, after using him as a study for other art courses and I thought well why not apply it to this project, where I can really forfil and under go the masters of this type of imagery- could I be the next Lichtenstein? Who knows? Anyway, put your swinging 60’s goggles on as you’ll see some Ben-Day dots and comic cartoon art that I have created originally inspired by this Pop art legend! By using Illustrator. Anyway, here is my footage below.

Photograph of me facing backwards... hmm lucky I still had this!

Thanks for taking the photo Edi! This photograph was taken way before the Covid 19 drama was going on!

Me facing backwards!
My Illustration of me facing backwards  based on the photograph Edi took, who'd thought being out of order actually got you somewhere! Joking aside, this was a good idea I drew this illustraton and had this photograph still otherwise id have to go through the patriotic struggle of getting a backwards profile of me or of someone else and it wouldn't be the best idea in the current situation we swam into with Corona virus and Covid 19.

You may ask yourself why in the heck did I Come up with the idea of drawing myself facing backwards, this was actually based on an idea I doodled in early hours of the morning when I was planning footage for my 30 second animation, I wanted to create Blurt's identity in a personified way making an inanimate object in this case the typography... blurt a little fart!

Blurt Fart!
This is where the Butt idea came from!  this was just me doodling the idea so I wouldn't forget about this crazy, wacky idea... now I can't lie to you I had some alcohol as a treat and to keep me going, hence this is where the idea came from!

A Test Run

With this footage here you could pretty much says a bit of a teaser because I was testing my footage based on what I drew because this footage is new as I recently come up with this idea because I decided to draw aside it is a doodle a stupid hours in early in the morning and it seems to be when I come up with weird and wonderful wacky ideas for some reason this worked so I created this as a test and I wanted to develop this further further because what you're saying there is me moving the phone to see that it says blurred where I wanted the blurt word to not only say it but foe the word Blurt being personified in the sense of making the word blurt it self to move so it looks like it's flirting a fart in an artistic sort of way.

Developed Test Demo!

For this video was a basically a test run that I put together using some of my imagery that I created for my 30 second video. For this video, I put together using some of my imagery that I created which I made just for the 30 second video, as these was the developed idea I come up with by a doodle in the early hours of the night on one of the nights I done a brainstorm ideas I created which I made just for the 30 second video as this was the developed idea I come up with by a doodle in the early hours of the night on one of the nights I done a brainstorm ideas and the ideas just multiplied in the sudden thought of experiment, curiosity said the cat and my curiosity took over and created this footage.

With this video here I basically put some footage together using the images I drew on the straighter of myself as a back profile and the comic style images are created in the style of Roy Lichtenstein and I then developed them by hitting the images on Photoshop has a smart layer and I then managed to put a pattern within my imagery by using photo shop on the option where are you right click on your liar and you go onto passing and I clicked on the pattern I wanted which in my case I made my own based on my imagery andI then managed to put a pattern within my imagery by using photo shop on the option where you have to right click using your mouse on your layer and you go on to passing and I clicked on the pattern I wanted which in my case I made my own based on my imagery and then and then I played with the blend modes on Photoshop that you can use for passes wear what I did was I put a pattern my passing over then and then I played with the blend modes on Photoshop because I put a pattern within the imagery I've produced on illustrator to create different effects and enables me to experiment and explore Adobe because I managed to put a pattern of my imagery within the images I've produced on illustrator to create different effects and enables me to experiment and explore Adobe.

Farting Blurt!
With this piece I basically developed this clip much further because I managed to make the type move I managed to make the word blurts come out of the characters bum making the personified sound of blurt in a unique and out of the box way but in a wayWith this piece I basically develop this clip much further because I managed to make the type move I managed to make the word blurts come out of the characters bum making the personified sound of blurt in a unique and out of the box way. This is a vast improvement from looking back at the other clips of this scenario because you can see what I was trying to achieve much clearer and I like the fact that the word blurts suddenly appears by the sound of the fault which I think works very well and it makes Blurt unique.
Here are some feedback below from my friend outside of the uni.
This feedback is interesting to know!
(From a friend outside uni)
This makes me feel so much better for creating this piece!

My Pop Art, Demo footage

This kind of here was basically an experiment where I was looking at putting typography pattern in typography in a PopArt abstract kind of way by putting my own twist into the imagery I wanted to try and put my images are created a lot I turned into a pattern on Photoshop I want to turn it into typography as well purely out of experimentation and technique processes.

Typography

With this image here I wanted to focus on the typography of the image because after referring to one of my storyboard it is back on the start of this section of the 32nd animation block countries I come up with the idea of I come up with the ideas of putting images into lettering this is inspired by looking back at some of the typographic work in my research at the very beginning of my project where I referenced about the graphic designers how typography not only that but also the 2016 Marvel I didn't wear you see in the end of the opening scene there are characters on the Marvel movie
Into the text making the type look more exciting to look at a more engaging for the audience which is the sort of thing I wanted to try and create in my work as well.

Kinetic Typography, gif 10 (found on google images)

Remember come across this clip in one of my beginning blog entries- which I found on Google images which is basically called kinetic typography 10 days and I found this an inspiration to come up with animation for moving text on moving typography but they've done it by creating shapes and creating shape to turn into the B which I like that but I wanted to try and stay away from that kind of concept because I felt it wanted to try something different so instead I want to make my text moves by making images inside the text moves which creates a sense of originality and difference also. but I wanted to try and stay away from that kind of concept because I felt it was too similar and instead I want to make my text moves by making images inside the text move which creates a sense of originality and difference also.

PopArt

For this image I used one of my patterns as a background and I made it a very bleak background and the reason why you're saying pixelated squares is because I took the photo on the computer screen anyway it almost adds to the effect in a way because it adds at steer abstract Element into my imagery and I will need to give the give a bit of an illusion kind of thing with the typography where I wrote pop-up and Lichtenstein I put images that I created into the type making my texts look more
interesting to look at.

Image here is basically a development of the image above image before this image anyway the thing what's more improved this piece is I like the fact that this time the sentence is finished with the number four with the hand gesture given the number for and I really like the fact that it's in the controlImage here is basically a development of the image above image before this image anyway the thing what's more improved this piece is I like the fact that this time the sentence is finished with the number four with the hand gesture giving the number for and I really like the fact that it's in the I like the fact that the number four with the hand gesture is the contrast in colour of the background making the full jump out at you I'm on most of the way to emphasise that it's on Channel 4 I'd say that was more than the floor looks more prominent than the rest of the image without making it look intimidating which I think gives us peace a vast piece.

BLURT! Test frame
Blirt with Lichty and stein titled pop part with an illustration of what I wanted to record as a visual motion graphic image I wanted to use this kind of illustration as a pitch idea for how I intend to fill my footage based on my doodle the idea that I creat in my sketchbook.

Doodle of a hand with the C4 Logo on each nail
This doodle design idea was a potential design idea I had in mind for creating  my imagery of the hand with  it holding up 4 fingers. This idea was a pretty simple one to be fair I come up with it out of that at complete randomness and it ended up being a fairly good idea because I wanted to show Channel 4 in another light in another perspective not just by the number four on the Channel 4 logo but I wanted to show for in a unique way using a hand gesture as another way of interpreting the number 4.

These Fours have been fairly Handy

These photographs is a mini photoshoot series of my hand holding up four fingers, why did I do this? I did this because Blurt is a channel 4 programme and I wanted to find other ways of conveying channel four as well as using the channel 4 Logo.  I have taken Photographs of my hand in various different angles and perspectives till I got the better four for the job which I then hope to use one of these lucky photographs as a reference to recreate via illustrator in my pop art contemporary aesthetic.

My Developments from Photographs to imagery

High 4!

These handy images I created I was going to recreate using illustrator but I'll Let you in on a little secret with this piece... unfortunately illustrator was playing up as I had too many tabs up at once so I had to settle to plan B, where I come up with the solution to edit the photographs of my hand with 4 fingers, one of the ones above onto Prisma where I went onto the Roy filter which is basically Roy Lichtenstein filter with the Ben day dots, bold colours and vibrant aesthetic which I then developed further at this stage experimenting with hue saturations, temperatures of my imagery as well as contrast, the brightness and dumbness of my imagery  and other effects you can apply to imagery, Prisma is basically a photo editing app on smartphones where you can apply filters for artists type of filters.

Doodle page to get my brain working

This doodle page is based around the genius behind experimenting and doodling... you'll find that I had a bit of a mind blank and a bit of a brain fart moment because at this point I run out of ideas so to help me get my brain working I decided to do a doodle and see where the deadline takes me and the images above is where it took me I basically use this as an opportunity to experiment with Prisma and photo editing like your find with these images below.

This series of imagery is basically photo filter edits based on a doodle I created on the middle top row where I was randomly creating a doodle to help get me ideas across when my mind goes blank and then to keep my mind occupied I decided to experiment with with Prisma and that's how I've got some of the effects on my images and I've also edited these images via not only adding the filters but by experimenting further with the contrast of the photos and the colour of the image and other experiments that she can put onto the photo using a photo editing app basically pretty much the same way as what I did with the images of the hands above with the full sign being up in the air.

Contrast and complimentary colours

With this symmetry above you'll find that it's basically exactly the same image with the exact same patterns in the background but the only difference is the colour of the image as you see on the image on the left I've use the blend mode multiply which makes the image look transparent and works through acetate but it also does the complete opposite affect to the multiply blend mode.
With the the divide blend mode which is the mode are used for the blue image on the right and I believe it works in a similar way but you can see the dynamics of each contrast from multiply to divide in the blend votes and how dramatically different they look how the image on the left of the yellows and reds is very powerful and dynamic and has a very fluorescent look to it and almost like a warm sensation where is the illustration on the right with the blues makes when you look at that it makes you feel calm and content when you look at this image because it makes you think of the sea life in the ocean and then I guess it makes you feel blue it is very powerful and dynamic and has a very fluorescent look to it and almost like a warm sensation where is the illustration on the right with the blues makes when you look at that it makes you feel calm and content when you look at this image because it makes you think of the sea life in the ocean and then I guess it makes you feel blue I really like the fact that there is an obvious sense of paradox in these two images from bright colours to the blues and turquoise which look at them together next to each other works very well because you can see the dramatic differences between them because although the same image you can tell that there is a difference between a straight away which I think works well. I really like the fact that there is an obvious sense of paradox in these two images from bright colours to the blues and turquoise which look at them together next to each other works very well because you can see the dramatic differences between them because although the same image you can tell that there is a difference between a straight away which I think works well.

With these four images here you'll see that I've focused on the themes of colour, pattern another, contrast complimentary colours and focusing on Waze I can make composition of to create images on top of other imagery to create a dynamic image which you will find with these four images in the images below these four images that I've basically done the same thing where I've literally just done these is Charlie and ever and experimentation and seeing where the experimentation takes me pretty much so that's the story behind these images.

With this section of images I have taken a whole level of development here where I have gone from adding pattern into my images and adding various tinsel colour shade and contrasting colours focusing on complimentary colours I've gone and taken the experimentation approach to another level where I've made the symmetry abstract you'll find with some of the images. With this small serise of imagery, I have taken a whole level of development here where I have gone from adding pattern into my images and adding various tints of colour shade and contrasting colours focusing on complimentary colours I've gone and taken the experimentation approach to another level where I've made the symmetry abstract you'll find with some of the images in the most simple way of putting it I have basically turn this into a trial and error as well and like if this imagery works well then awesome it will feature in my 3 second animation at some point and if it's not then a hit and miss but at least I've learnt and experimented with different processes and techniques along the way so I'm always there in the most simple way of putting it I have basically turn this into a trial and error as well and like if this imagery works well then awesome it will feature in my 30 second animation at some point and if it's not then a hit and miss but at least I've learnt and experimented with different processes and techniques along the way so I'm always spotting new ways of creating imagery.

With these three images above you find that I've been very ambiguous with the way I've put my compositions together in the abstract kind of aesthetic I've been asked to say at this point I was getting to the point of almost losing my mind and getting way into using photo shop and experimenting to a point where where the imagery was matching my mind basically because I was basically showing that at this point I was a bit in a cascade of creating this with series of imagery and you can see there is a lot of colour in there it's very vibrant and it has a very powerful enduring look to it which almost attracts the eye to make you look deeper into the picture for making you try and find a bigger picture, where the imagery was matching my mind basically.

I'd say the image on the bottom right I think the actual person in the image needs to be able to be seen a little bit more and maybe like the highlights on the hair could be more out there in the sense that it's more visible I like the fact that the hair is got a flame effect to it I think that works really well Picture which I think works well but I'm close to improve this in any way I'd say the image on the bottom right I think the actual person in the image needs to be able to be seen a little bit more and maybe like the highlights on the hair could be more out there in the sense that it's more visible I like the fact that the hair is got a flame effect to it I think that works really well with the image on the left bottom left I like the fact that again the use of contrast in colour and like the opposite kind of fits and with this image on the left it looks very colourful as well but much lighter and a bit more fairground in kind of Candy-land kind of imagery with the image on the left bottom left I like the fact that again the use of contrast in colour and like the opposite kind of fits with the concept to this piece and it works well with this kind of imagery and I think the use of pixelation despite it being a complete accident I think it works with the image and with the top image you'll see that I've used the contrast in colours blues yellows and oranges which is perfect its works well the image is dynamic you can see each detail and the fact that if he is complimentary colours in my imagery works all the better opinion.

With this imagery you can see there is a close connection between them although they have fairy differences like the top left is very simple very colourful but works in the image on the top right is basically a developed we carnation of the image on the left where I've had another imagery and text within the image to give it the more comic style aesthetic if you like and the last two images below you'll find that I've experimented further with different blend modes in this case I think it was hard light and light and I looked at to get these graphic affects where are you put the hand with the four gesture in the persons face to create different experiments and ideas really that was more the sake of trial and error basically.
