Storyboard 3
Storyboard 3: Corona Virus
Anyway. I started to create and sketch this storyboard below, for this animation.
The idea came to me, after seeing news articles online, seeing the news about the corona Virus on the tv, over social media, basically everywhere as well as the fact we all have to self isolate, where I am isolating myself it has enabled me to think more and therefore allowed me to come up with this idea for another animation.
The design to this storyboard below. is a very simplistic comic style but just a quick sketch kind of storyboard, I just kept this storyboard simple but clear to the point. I wrote text on the storyboard ie the cough on the 3rd image on this storyboard below, like you'd see text on a comic strip, which I thought id add to my storyboard, after looking at story boards that Keith had designed in the Arthouse cinema book he put together. Only I didn't colour my storyboard in or design it digitally. Hopefully for future animations I create I will try digitally creating storyboards. this was just a basic and rough idea for what I wanted to create for this animation based on the current affair of the corona virus.

This half of the storyboard is the basics on what was going on with the current affair of the corona virus, with people panic buying, where people are buying bulks of food from each supermarket, from Tesco and Sainsburys, the co op to Aldi and Lidl etc, and then someone catching the main symptoms of the corona Virus being the constant coughing and the high rising temperature. Also where people are panic/bulk buying they ran out of loo rolls in the supermarkets also. Then world turns to a chaotic Supermarket apocalypse with the NHS staff rushed off their feet telling people to Self Isolate and then the final part of this animation the government decided to put closure to public places and events to help stop the spread.
To reiterate, this animation is going to be about the early stages of the global crisis of the Corona Virus aka Covid 19, with the moral of the story is to stay safe and sound and stay HOME! not that the stay home feature isn't on this animation because at the time I was doing this animation we were only isolating and they had only just started closing public places. In all honestness it was kind of thanks to this idea for an animation I have had a clearer understanding on what the Corona Virus is. its just a simple story, I will admit I hope that people take this animation seriously but not too seriously, meaning that I hope they take the stay safe message seriously but there are sections such as the end of the world part and the zombie apocalypse part I hope to include are examples of parts of this animation I hope people won't take too seriously. The audience for this animation I would say can be aimed at practically anyone and everyone to be honest seeing as the corona virus is a serious matter and everyone knows about it but id like to think people will understand the moral of the story.
I also hope to create this animation as I hope to create a piece of Motion graphics based on a current event that will be added to the history books in the future days, so not only other people but me, future families and generations could look back and see what the year 2020 was like. How this year is basically a pause year, in a sense of isolating, fending for yourself and whatnot. Hopefully this animation will go according to plan.
The type of animation techniques I hope to bring to this animation are the following:
- 3D Animation: If I use the scrabble tiles or make sets 3D.
- Live action: For the scenes like the tap running, the loo roll and maybe the food section.
- 2D and Traditional digitally drawn animation: For cry character design
- Stop Motion: For filming the animation.
For this animation I hope to try using both Manual setting and the Time lapse setting as I want to try and extend on the type of animation I create footage with really just to experiment and think outside the box more, both theoretically and for when I am experimenting.
Essentially, the key to this animation is to create a story of a current situation with a kind key message at the end of the clip sort of thing. We shall see what happens when I create the animation.
I am personally looking forward to creating this animation as I am aiming it out to a general audience really, Meaning that I am setting an age range for an audience being aged seven to OAP age seeing as this matter effects everyone in some cases so I feel that's an understandable age range, though I cant lie I feel from what my animation will be about it could unintentionally come across as quite controversial to some people or condescending to people like supermarket workers or NHS workers. So I kind of feel as target audience I would also have to consider the needs of others in that sense, I feel from ages under 7 I feel youngsters may not completely understand the animation or the moral behind it. Though I would say the younger audience may like the cartoon characters I hope to include in my animation as I hope to include zombies to play with the whole apocalypse and end of the world kind of thing but stereotypically I think younger boys may enjoy that more than the younger females, but you never solidly know as people are different. I feel OAP's for instance may not like the Zombie concept as it may frighten them or they may find it something to eye roll at. I feel this kind of animation may be best suitable for teens, people In their 30's, 40's and 50's or anyone who is likes a bit of a story on current affairs but also anyone who maybe interested or wants something to watch really.
The title of this animation will be Corona Vs the world, I named it that because we as a universe are fighting a battle against an evil toxic monster, named Corona which I have written it as if to say we are the boxers and the corona is the evil red corner and we as the world are standing at the blue corner fighting each day as it comes sort of thing but we ourselves are battling the unknown essentially so really I feel this title Corona Vs the world makes the clip sound like we are against the unknown. Not only that but I also chose this title because the heading works well with my story and Narrative and I feel its a short and snappy title and nine times out of ten short and snappy works the best. It was either that or Corona Battles the Globe which does work as a simple but subtle title but I feel that title gives a little too much away before watching the animation and I feel Corona Vs the world makes it sound like a catchy title for a short animation and I feel the title being shorter will make people more curious to watch it.
